two-channel video/audio installation in Black cube
color, loop

The sleeper is a variable-sized installation, consisting of a room with a bed in the middle, and two bedside tables. Two video projections inhabit this space. The first, on the bed, shows the phantasmagorical body of a woman sleeping. The second, framed by high curtains, functions as a window through which we see dramatic, confused images drawn from the archives of the first Gulf War, taken with infrared cameras. Only the sounds of bombs or missiles, and the omnipresent sirens, remind us of the existence of the conflict. The image of the sleeper is seen in complete contrast with this audiovisual violence.
