La bañera / The Bathtub – 1999

The bañera (The bathtub) is a photographic installation using the effect of a trompe l’oeil. A woman plunged into the water seems to experience a moment of distance and absolute contemplation. Her body, which is slightly disproportionate and larger than normal, is naked and exposed to the public. Her closed eyes position the subject in a state of dream and meditation, which excludes the spectator.
La baignoire est une installation photographique qui fonctionne comme un trompe l’œil: une femme plongée dans une baignoire semble vivre un moment d’absence et d’absence absolue. Son corps, légèrement disproportionné sur une plus grande échelle que d’habitude, est nu et exposé aux regards du public. Les yeux fermés présentent le personnage dans un état de rêve et d’absorption de soi qui exclut le spectateur.
